Purpose
Huawei needed to know how well its Linux machines were hardened, but reviewing system configurations by hand was slow and drifted from one host to the next. Without a single yardstick, gaps went unnoticed and no two machines were judged the same way. They needed every machine measured against the same security requirements so weaknesses surfaced fast.
Description
We built an automated assessment that sweeps each machine against the same hardening requirements, checking for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations across the fleet. Because every host is judged by identical criteria, results are directly comparable and nothing slips through on a looser review. Findings are surfaced clearly, so the team can move straight to fixing issues instead of hunting for them. Automating the work replaced error-prone manual reviews with faster, more reliable coverage.
Results
- Every host
the same hardening criteria applied to all Linux machines
- No manual reviews
security config checks that once ran by hand
- Full sweep
each machine scanned for misconfigurations and gaps
- Faster fixes
findings surfaced so remediation starts sooner
