Purpose

Plug-in repellent devices usually mean walking over to the unit every time you want to switch it on or change how it runs, which is inconvenient at best and impossible if the device sits out of easy reach. The project needed a repellent users could turn on and tune from their phone over Wi-Fi, without ever touching the hardware.

Description

We built a prototype that emits a high-frequency tone to deter mosquitoes and put every control in a mobile app over Wi-Fi. Users can switch the repellent on or off and adjust its frequency in real time, and the device remembers its last settings so it resumes right where it left off after a power cycle. The build is fully documented, from wiring schematic to bill of materials, including a self-made power supply, the kind of complete, reproducible hardware work we do.
