Purpose
Drowsy driving causes crashes that a timely warning could prevent. This in-vehicle device watches the driver's eyes and mouth for signs of fatigue and intervenes with escalating audio and physical alerts before microsleep sets in.
Description
A Raspberry Pi camera streams the driver's face into MediaPipe Face Mesh, where eye aspect ratio and mouth landmarks detect extended eye closure, frequent blinking, yawning, and a face leaving the frame. Each condition triggers a matching spoken alert through onboard speakers and pulses a GPIO-driven vibration motor to rouse the driver. The system launches headless on startup and exposes tunable thresholds for blink duration, blink frequency, and yawn detection.
