Purpose
Mapua University students wanted an interactive holiday installation where ambient light drives the show — a light-dependent resistor adjusts music volume and Christmas light brightness automatically as lighting conditions change.
Description
A Raspberry Pi build in Python that reads a light-dependent resistor through gpiozero and maps light intensity to two outputs: speaker volume, adjusted live through the ALSA audio interface, and LED string brightness on the GPIO pins. A companion Android app built with App Inventor provides remote volume control, letting users override the sensor-driven behavior when desired. The result is a festive display that reacts to its environment in real time.
