Purpose

Students lose real time walking to an office only to find a professor out or busy. A university team wanted a way to show live faculty availability and consultation hours, with professors able to update their own status from anywhere.

Description

We built a kiosk where students browse faculty profiles, current attendance status, consultation times, and announcements, all kept live by a cloud backend so a professor can change availability from off-campus and see it update on the display at once. A time-based power-saving mode switches the monitor off outside operating hours to save energy. Connecting an on-site display to a real-time cloud so the information is never stale is a clean piece of connected-device engineering.
