Purpose

In a hybrid class, the moment an instructor steps away from the desk, remote students lose them off the edge of the frame, and with it, half the lesson. This prototype set out to keep the presenter in view automatically, with no one operating a camera.

Description

We built a motorized camera mount that finds the instructor's face and pans to follow it as they move around the room during a live session. A controller drives the motor in real time, nudging the camera's aim so remote participants keep a steady, centered view of whoever is teaching. Marrying live face-tracking to responsive motor control into something that simply works in a classroom is the kind of practical automation we like to build.
