Purpose
Fishing boats need affordable tools for safe navigation. This study builds a homing device on AIS technology that helps boats find their way back and warns crews of potential collisions with nearby vessels.
Description
The device implements Automatic Identification System functions in a Raspberry Pi-based embedded system programmed in Python. On top of standard AIS operation, it adds a collision warning feature that notifies the crew when another vessel poses a risk, and a homing capability that guides the boat back to its destination. Together these extend AIS from passive identification into an active navigation aid for small fishing boats.
