Purpose

Crops and open spaces lose real value to birds, and the usual fixes are either costly or need a person standing by to scare them off. The challenge was to prove a system could sense a bird approaching and drive it away on its own, with no one watching.

Description

We built a prototype that watches a protected area with a ring of motion sensors and, the instant something moves in, answers with a burst of high-frequency sound to send birds off. Spreading the sensors around the perimeter widened the coverage so approaches from any direction get caught. We designed and validated the full circuit in simulation before assembly and published it for review. It is the kind of ground-up hardware problem we take on and prove out end to end.
