Purpose

Classify heart arrhythmias — cardiac ischemia, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia — in the ECG readings of vape smokers, using real-time feature detection to better understand vaping's impact on heart health.

Description

An AD8232 ECG sensor wired to an Arduino streams heart signals to a Python desktop application, where a real-time feature detection algorithm analyzes the waveform and classifies arrhythmias including cardiac ischemia, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia. The PyQt5 interface plots the live ECG trace alongside classification results, giving researchers an immediate view of each subject's readings. Developed as a thesis project at Mapua University.
