Purpose
Getting a network to work end to end is unforgiving: one miscalculated address in the plan and machines that should talk to each other simply can't. The challenge was to design a complete network from the ground up, prove out the addressing scheme, and confirm that every host could reach every other host.
Description
We designed, built, and troubleshot a full network in simulation, planning the address space efficiently with variable-length masking and running both current and next-generation addressing side by side on every workstation. We then tested the finished topology exhaustively, documenting each host's configuration as proof that connectivity held across the whole network. It's the kind of methodical, end-to-end network design work that leaves nothing to chance.
