Overview

If you're building a thesis or capstone prototype, the deadline is the defence and the deliverable is something that demonstrably works in front of a panel. That's a different job from commercial software, and we scope it as one: a fixed prototype, a fixed date, and a build that does what your paper says it does.

We've built a lot of these — sensor rigs, computer-vision detectors, tracking systems, mobile and desktop front ends over hardware — and most of the Research & Prototypes section of our portfolio came out of exactly this work. That experience mostly shows up as knowing where student hardware projects die: the sensor that can't actually measure what the proposal assumed, the dataset that was never going to be large enough, the demo that only runs on the machine it was written on.

So we'll tell you early if the scope you've been given can't be built in the time you have, and what a version that can be built looks like. A prototype that honestly demonstrates three of five objectives beats one that claims five and fails on the table.

Student pricing is a policy here, not a discount we negotiate: thesis and capstone work is quoted on a different basis from commercial engagements, because the budget is a student's and the scope is bounded. Tell us the requirement and the date, and we'll tell you what it costs before you commit.

  • The documentation your paper needs: architecture diagrams, methodology, and a plain description of how it works
  • A handover walkthrough, so you can run and explain the build yourself on defence day

Will you build the whole thesis for us?
No — we build the prototype, not the paper. You own the research, the methodology and the writing; we build the thing that has to work, document how it works, and walk you through it so you can explain and defend it yourself.
How much does a prototype cost?
Less than commercial work, and we'll tell you the number before you commit. Thesis and capstone projects are priced on a separate basis because the scope is bounded and the budget is a student's — but we still scope it properly rather than quoting a figure off a one-line description.
We have a defence date. Can you hit it?
Usually, and we'll say so honestly if we can't. Tell us the date first — it changes what we recommend building. If the approved scope doesn't fit the time left, we'll show you the version that does and what it costs you in objectives.
Who supplies the hardware?
Either of us can. We'll specify exactly what's needed and why before anything is bought, so you don't end up with a sensor that can't measure what your proposal assumed — that's the single most common way these projects lose a month.
What happens after you hand it over?
We answer questions. You get the build, the documentation and a walkthrough, and we stay reachable through the defence — a prototype you can't explain under questioning isn't finished.
